Summer Days of June · July 02, 2007

Summer is moving fast. We began the month of June by preparing for camps. Our first camp was at Camp Zephyr in deep south TX. It was HOT! CRAZY HOT!! But we had a great time. Our room was near a deck that looked over a beautiful lake where I took lots of cute pictures of Libby. She loved it out there. That week I was introduced to bugs and spiders I have never seen before and I prayed hard that none of them would visit Libby's flesh. Thank you Jesus, they didn't bite her!  Our nanny, Kristie Martinez, is FABULOUS!! It took Libby only a day or so to start warming up to her. Kristie is great with Libby (and probably any kids). I love her and am so thankful for her help!

Libby was unusually overwhelmed by the hustle and bustle of camp kids during our first week of camp. But by the 3rd day of that week I realized why. She was getting sick. She had a ton of drainage and ran a fever off and on from that point through our second week of camp (can you say NO SLEEP?>!).  Our second week of camp was a Student Life camp in San Angelo. Libby, though still not feeling great, seemed to handle the crowd a little better - except during dinner. By that time of the day she was getting a little fussy and she just couldn't focus on eating with so many people coming by to see her.  She was a trooper, all in all, and I am so happy she can be with us and be a part of our ministry.

Libby is WAY into looking at pictures - particularly of mommy and daddy (that's right, she calls us mommY and daddY now, not mama and dada). She points to all the subjects in each picture and says the names of each subject many times - until she feels like you completely understand what she's saying. Some of the picture subjects are: fish (if you know Billy's love for fly-fishing that makes perfect sense) papa, nanna (her new name for Grammy Winky), river, dog, etc. Libby is also into MOVIES - which she says in a very whiney voice when she wants to see one. Her favorites are Veggie Tales and Boz the Bear. She gets to see one movie (30 minutes) a day and it's her favorite part of the day.

The cutest development is Libby's love for dance. She has several toys that play music and every morning after breakfast she'll turn one on and say "denss" (meaning "please dance"). So her very white mommy and daddy do their best to teach her some cute dance moves. And she boogies all over the place.

Libby's language development continues to advance. New words every day - some I understand, some I don't. And when I don't understand what she's trying to say I can see the wheels turning in her mind as to how she can explain herself. And if I still don't understand ......we're talking complete frustration on her part (and mine).

Libby also has a weekly play date (when we're in town) with her friend Taylor Vega. In the pics you'll see a couple of cute pics of them together. I love seeing Libby learn how to interact with other kids her age.

On Wednesday July 4 we begin some heavy traveling. In 17 days we will lead worship at 3 different camps in 3 different states - first: Durango, CO; second: Lee University in TN; third, PA. If the Lord brings us to your mind in the next 2 1/2 weeks we would appreciate your prayers  - particularly for Libby as we have some long travel days ahead. Thank you!

Okay - I'll stop writing my monthly novel so you can get to the pictures.

Love,

Cindy
