March was a merry month for sweet Libby. She had several opportunities to play with other girls and she became socially aware - meaning - not so scared of strangers anymore. During our last trip Libby went up to everyone in the airport to say hello, check out their computers or coffee mugs and chat. She was literally all over the place making onlookers giggle at her joyful behavior. Mommy and Daddy were just glad she wasn't having a melt down in the airport because she had very little sleep that day and was long overdue for an outright fit. But miraculously, she was playful and delightful! A true answer to prayer on that particular day!
Madison and Sophie came to spend the night during their spring break. Marcie (their mom) had given them a long talk on the way to our house explaining that they should be gentle with Libby because she's not used to being around a lot of kids. Five minutes after arriving Libby was jumping up and down on Madison's stomach. So much for "delicate Libby". She is way advanced as far as playing with other kids goes. Most 16 month olds don't know how to play with others kids. But Libby has mastered it and LOVES it!
Libby and Maliah had a day at the zoo together with Cristie, Canyon, Dakota and me. Libby and Maliah sat pleasantly in their strollers all morning as we toured the entire zoo. Maliah is in the 1 percentile for height and Libby is in the 80th percentile for height. So, although they are the same age Libby looks like a giant next to Maliah. It's really cute! Maliah, though tiny, has a personality that will knock your socks off. Libby just watches her all the time. I still find myself awed by the fact that God allowed these two to come from the same orphanage and live so close together. I can't wait to see their friendship develop over the years to come.
Molly and Madelyn came to play yesterday. They are also from China. They are waiting for their little brother, Mason, to come home from China soon. He is deaf so their whole family is learning sign language. It's adorable to see these girls using their signs. I can't wait to see how the Lord blesses this family with the arrival of Mason. So exciting!
Libby turned 16 months on the 23rd. Is that really possible? She is growing up SO FAST! She is learning new words every week - both verbally and in sign. She loves to sign for "music" several times throughout the day - especially if she sees a radio. And as soon as the music comes on she grins from ear to ear. The words Libby is saying verbally are: chicken, more, open, apple, up, bye-bye, mama, dada, papa, gaga (grammy), bubba (becky), tay-tay (Taylor), ibby (Libby), nigh-nigh (night-night) and hello.
Libby runs (no more walking). She just runs everywhere. She's getting better at going to the nursery. She still cries when I leave, but she's getting over it a lot faster (mommy is grateful for that!).
Nap time is still a challenge. But at this point, I'm just blaming that on teething. (that's probably not the reason, but it works for me). Libby's had two molars coming in FOREVER!! They've cut through the gum, but have a ways to go. I had no idea how long it can take for teeth to move in. It has to be so painful for her. Libby had a cold with a low grade fever for about a week, but today she seems completely better. We've been getting a lot of rain lately which is needed, but I'm ready to take Libby outside to play - so "rain rain go away!!"
That's all folks. Until next month -
Cindy
