I can't believe it. Tomorrow is the 4th of October, which means we've had Libby for one whole month. Time flies when you're having fun! And we're definately having fun.
Libby has really bonded with Billy. A few days ago she cried when he left the room. When he walks up to her she puts her arms out for him to pick her up. It's really sweet!
Libby is officially eating baby foods. She's now eating carrots, bananas, apples, green beans and rice cereal. We're starting sweet potatoes soon.
We've started teaching Libby some sign language and we've also started teaching her what the word "no" means. We haven't made much progress with either, but we eventually will.
We took Libby for a ride to the town of Wimberly recently. We thought it wise to start getting her used to the car seat. We enjoyed the day out and she did really well in the seat. She started whining during the last ten minutes home, but that's to be expected. Her longest car seat ride prior to that was only 30 minutes. So an hour and half drive going and coming back were a stretch for her.
Some friends came in town over the weekend - The Strickland Family!! They have three grown children (they didn't make the trip) and two Chinese daughters. They are working on their third adoption of a 5 year old, deaf, Chinese boy. So the whole family is learning sign language. They came to church with us and treated us to lunch afterward. Then, on Monday, we met them at the San Antonio Zoo. It was Libby's first zoo experience and she really enjoyed it. She's still a bit young to enjoy all of it, but we can tell that as she gets older it will be a fun family outing.
Libby loves to play with us and use her imagination. If Billy growls, she'll crawl real fast to me and bury her face in my lap. She loves this kind of play. So do we!
In less than 2 weeks we'll begin our travels again for ministry work. We're a little nervous about traveling with a baby, so start praying with us that she will be a good, healthy traveler and that someone will be at each event who we can trust to watch her while we're on stage. Hopefully she won't find it too difficult to be left with a stranger for short periods of time. Oh, I'm already sad just thinking about her probable tears. Boo Hoo!
Lastly, I (Cindy) am still suffering from a cough that developed in China - yep - I've had this cough for almost a month. I've started a prescription decongestant and another round of anti-biotics. Please pray that the cough heals, because the more I cough the worse my voice is. And I need to be able to sing in about 10 days.
Well, that's all for now. Once again - enjoy the photos!
Love,
Cindy
