Libby at 10 Months · September 26, 2006

Libby is napping so I thought I'd take advantange of this quiet time to fill you in on Libby at 10 months of age. She turned 10 months old 3 days ago. It was exactly a week after traveling home from China. That week was a difficult one - time change, formula change, teething, shots, fever - you name it! But now, Libby is sleeping through the night, taking her naps and other than when she's tired or hungry she is extremely happy!

I have to journal two specific things Libby is doing that mean so much to us. First, when we say Libby is happy - that's an understatement. Before leaving for China a young man who had been praying for us prophecied that Libby would be a picture to us of God's joy. Truer words could not be spoken. MANY times throughout the day Libby will sound off a high pitch squeal as she shakes her fists and kicks her legs and shakes her head all at one time. If we're holding her and she sees something that makes her happy she'll do this squeal and dance. If she's playing and something makes her happy she'll throw herself face down and do her squeal and dance. If she's in the baby bjorn and something makes her happy she'll do her squeal and dance. If mommy or daddy come around the corner and she sees us - she does her squeal and dance. And mommy and daddy can't think of anything better than that!

The other thing Libby is doing is such a picture of child-like trust. Libby is just now learning how to play because she didn't have many toys or attention at the orphange. Now, Libby stands up at her Leap Frog Musical Table and dances to the music as she bobs her head and if daddy or mommy are sitting behind her and she gets into a really playful mood she will literally throw herself back into our arms. There's no bend of the knee or turning of the head to see if we're ready - she just falls straight back into us and giggles. We love it!

Sunday was Libby's first day to meet our church family at Alamo City. She was given a warm welcome by all our friends. During the service I could tell she was getting hungry even though she wasn't supposed to eat for 45 minutes. So I took her to the cry room and she gulped down a 7 oz. bottle and began to cry because she was still hungry. I decided to fix another 7 oz. bottle thinking maybe she'll drink a couple more ounces - but she drank the whole thing!!!  I realized at that moment that we MUST start working on Libby eating solids. Since then she's taken a liking to carrots, she hates peaches and tomorrow we're going to work on bannanas.

Libby just woke up so I must go. Enjoy the photos!
