On Saturday, Sept. 16 at 4:20 pm we finally arrived home with our precious daughter, Libby. We traveled over 24 hours from China to TX with no sleep whatsoever. So we were exhausted to say the least. Our dear friends Cristie and Doug Martine who were also traveling with us for their adoption ended up having an even more difficult trip as Cristie came down with a stomach bug just a few hours into the trip. She really went through it, let me tell you. We felt so sorry for her!! We love you Cristie - You're a trooper!
When we arrived at the San Antonio airport we quickly changed Libby into her coming home, red, white and blue outfit with red bow. Then it was off to see all our dear friends and family who flooded us with signs, balloons, flowers and loving welcomes. Cameras were flashing everywhere and Libby just took it all in. She is such an angel! She only cried on the last flight - and we all wanted to cry at that point. And then, when all these people greeted her she just smiled and sat contently in my arms. Such a doll!!
When we arrived home there were even more signs and balloons. We walked in the door and I sat with Libby in my lap and cried my eyes out. I just couldn't believe that long journey was over. I'm sure the exhaustion of the trip helped bring on the tears, but honestly I was just overwhelmed by the thought of being through with the waiting and traveling.
Billy's parents had bought us our groceries and prepared our home. We are forever grateful to them and to all our friends who so lovingly welcomed us home and made our transition a little easier.
Billy's parents stayed with us for a few days and cooked meals and cleaned the kitchen and just watched Libby - as she is very entertaining.
Libby is doing great, though she has a little cold. Her first two bottom teeth broke through during our first night home. She would be sleeping through the night if her cold and her teeth weren't bothering her so much. Once we get past this cold I think she'll be completely on schedule.
I just wanted you all to know that we are home safe and sound and doing very well! Enjoy the photos!!
With Love,
The Footes
