"In China" Journal - Sept. 12

Happy Birthday Uncle Ronnie!

I don't have any photos posted yet (Billy has the camera) but I wanted to update everyone. Billy and the other dads left at 6:30 this morning. By 9am we received word that they were doing fine and really enjoying the beautiful countryside. I have to admit - I'm jealous. But I have beautiful Libby to look at. Our guide, Amy, says that the guys will travel on highway for the first 6 hours and the last 2 hours will be over rugged road. Sounds like fun. They are making history as no one has ever been allowed to visit Libby's orphanage before. Our guide says it is a very poor orphanage so all the families went shopping last night for baby clothes and toys. We were informed the orphanage has little of either. I wish we had known about this trip several days ago so we could have purchased more, but we only had a couple of hours last night to prepare. I told Billy to expect the orphanage and surrounding people to be very excited about the visit. Very few foreigners get to go into this remote place. The orphanage and the dads will feel so honored to meet one another today. I can't wait for Billy to return so I can know all the details. Hopefully the dads will get to visit each site where our babies were left to be found. Libby was found on a particular street so I'm hoping Billy can get a picture of the street sign and the walking lane which she was found next to. That will be dear information to Libby in the future.

All the moms are going shopping. Aunt Judy - I'm looking for the stuffed panda today!

I'll most likely post more later!

..............

Okay, it's now 7pm and I have a new update. Our guides heard from the dads a few hours ago. They made it to the orphanage in 6 hours (rather than 8). I know they were happy about that. Our guides said they received a call from the head of the orphanage this morning saying she was very upset the dads were coming because the Civil Affairs office had not approved them coming yet. Our guides said, "too bad, they are on their way and they're bringing gifts." Well, that must have done the trick because the dads were allowed not only to see the orphanage, but they were allowed inside our girls' room  - the baby room. This is virtually unheard of - a really big deal!! They got to see the cribs and all. They also made it to each of the finding places. It looks like they will make it back to the hotel around 10:30 or 11pm. That will make this wife/mother very happy!

So... I won't have any pictures to share today, but I'll definately post some pictures tomorrow of what all they saw on their adventure to Xuwen.

Keep praying for their safe return to the hotel!!

Love you all,

Cindy
