Mid-Day Entry -

Libby is down for a nap so I thought I'd do a surprise mid-day entry for you late night watchers. Okay, you're probably all asleep - as it is 1:20 AM in TX, but I just needed something to do!

This morning we took a trip to a garden park. It really was spectacular. Many of the shrubs were shaped like animals or tea pots or other random things and all the flowers were beautiful. However - I have NEVER experienced humidity like that. We were dripping wet within a few minutes. UGH!!

Next was lunch at Pizza Hut - Yep, that's right - Pizza Hut. It was pretty good!

Libby's nap schedules have been all off today because of our schedule, but she's sleeping soundly now. For those who want to know - she pooped this morning! She had not pooped since we changed her formula yesterday morning - so we were concerned. But we are happy parents now because our little girl poo pood. Yeah! She seems much better now. Whew! Many thanks to everyone for the advice and prayers!

So, here are a few random things I keep meaning to mention - in no particular order.

1. Libby's orphanage - located in a very southern part of China had NO airconditioning. We're having to be careful to keep her warm because she's not used to the cool air inside buildings.

2. Libby's orphanage apparently had very few if any toys. She plays with her hands like they've been her life-long toy. It's very cute, but sort of sad.

3. The hotel we're staying in is fabulous.

4. The heat and humidity in Guangzhou are less than desirable. Billy says it's what hell must be like.

5. Libby likes to clap her hands. The nanny said they would say the word for clap in Chinese and she would clap. I don't know how to spell the word but it sounds like "Goo Chow". If you say it, she'll start clapping.

6. Libby always wake up happy. It's Billy's favorite time of the day with her (mine too!).

7. Libby likes to stretch a lot when she first wakes up - like a little puppy... Oh so cute!

8. The Chinese people are very friendly. They stare at Libby and us and I'm sure they are wondering what we're doing with her. They often stop and tell us in choppy english "she beautiful" or "she good skin" or "big eyes". One lady came up and gave us a bag of gummy jelly candy for Libby. Libby is too young to eat it, but it was very sweet of this lady to give them to us. When we explain that we are adopting Libby the Chinese people seem very happy about it.

9. I'm sad that I have to keep sweaters on Libby because her clothes are so cute!

10. Libby won't take ANYTHING except her bottle. I've tried to feed her peas and then plums and also Cherios. No go! She tightens her mouth closed, makes a funny face and turns her head. Pray that she will eventually try some different foods. I really think she is more hungry than her 4 bottles can satisfy.

11. Libby has a really sweet voice - even when she cries. I prayed for this. The Lord has been so good to answer our prayers down to the simplest of details. Thank you Lord!

Okay - I may write more later....

It's later...

Libby was so much fun this afternoon. She just babbled and giggled and played all afternoon.  She was razzing and squealing and really showing off her personality. Then her friend Maliah came over to play and then we went to Klaire's room for dinner and play.

Libby has begun some good attaching to me. I had to leave the room tonight right before her bedtime. She was crying and Billy was in charge of putting her down for the night. He said that when I left she cried for 10 minutes as hard as she had cried the day we got her and she kept staring at the door looking for me. Now that will break your heart!!! I'm sad she was feeling that way, but happy that she has officially started to attach to me - this is good.

I have decided that along with the formula change yesterday, Libby may also be teething. She is starting to drool a whole lot and she is starting to chew on her fingers. I think the combination of formula change and some teething is what made her a little cranky yesterday. Now that we've identified the problem we know how to handle it and she is doing much better.

Well, it's getting late so I must go. Tomorrow - a free day!! We are catching a taxi to Shamain Island which is known for great shopping! YEAH!

Love you all,

Cindy
