"In China" Journal - Sept. 7 · Sept. 7, 2006

Today was a family day for us. We skipped the zoo and did our own thing. The breakfast buffet was scrumptious as usual and before we knew it Libby's nap time was upon us. She wakes between 6 and 7am, eats at 7 am and then naps at 9am - 10am. She eats again at 11am and then sleeps from 12-2pm. So we really aren't free to roam the city until after 2 unless we let go of her schedule. But I like the schedule so we're keeping it and working around it.

After 2pm we tried to find some shops. I found a couple, but not the ones I'm looking for. I'll eventually find them - I hope! All the ladies working in the shops follow you around and pull items off the shelf to show you how much you need that product. Then they tell you a high price and you have to talk them down. I have to tell you- this is not my kind of shopping. But I'm learning.

We took a little walk after that. Next it was back to the pool. Libby splashed and babbled the entire time. She absolutely loves the water and is fearless.

After the pool, Libby started to act a little unhappy. As a new mom I am not sure what this is about. It could be that since we started adding American formula to her bottle this morning her tummy is bothering her. She hasn't pooped since this morning so that could definately be the problem. It could be that she's just tired, but it was no where near nap time. It could be that she's teething. Or it could be that she's still working through some attachment issues. Who knows!! I gave her a little Motrin in case she felt achy. Then we took her to the hotel lobby for a change of view. She started doing a little better, but she just didn't seem herself.

We had an interesting dinner with the Martine family at the Food Street Restaurant. The babies were both tired, the high chairs the waitress originally brought out were literally high (tall) chairs with no trays or restraining belts. In other words they were completely useless. Doug brought a baby backpack and the waitress put a cloth over it to disguise it - we're still trying to figure that one out. The chicken Billy and I ordered came with fat all over the top of them and the meat was cold. However, the fried rice was delicious. Anyway  - It was an interesting dine.

We left the restaurant at 8 pm realizing the babies were tired. Before we even reached the elevator, Libby was out. I changed her outfit and diapers and she never woke up. But just a minute ago she started crying in her sleep and I had to console her for a while. This is not something she has done any other night. Billy is really worried that the new formula is hurting her stomach and making her constipated. Neither of us know what we're doing at this point. Lord, give us wisdom.

We don't have as many pictures today, but I'll post a few. Tomorrow we go to a park. Should be fun. Please pray that we figure out what's bothering Libby so we can take care of her properly.

Love you all,

Billy and Cindy
