Another Wonderful Day!
The day started with us being awake - waiting for Libby to wake up. We opened the blinds and that helped - she started to wriggle. She stretched in a really cute way and woke up to hearing Billy say, "Goodmorning Libby". She slowly woke up and was very happy. We were kind of expecting her to cry when she saw us - but nope! - She was happy!
We gave Libby a bottle and then gave her her first bath. There are some photos of her first bath below. She really liked the water - wasn't scared at all!
After cleaning her up we put on a dress with a sweater, bow and shoes. What a doll! Why a sweater in early Sept. in south China? Ask the Chinese - I haven't figured it out, but the women of China will fuss at you if you haven't got every inch of your baby covered.
Next, we were off to the Civil Affairs office for Adoption Day. We had to take our first official family photo and then be interviewed twice by Chinese officials. They asked simple questions like "are you satisfied with this baby?" - Well, duh!! Of course!!! So, as of today, in China's eyes, Libby now belongs to us - FOREVER! This is Libby's official adoption day! HOORAY!!!!
Next, we went to the grocery store to stock up on diapers, baby food, bottled water, snacks, etc. Billy kept Libby on the bus while I shopped. We were hoping she would sleep because it was her nap time. No such luck. She stayed awake AND pooped. Billy had to change the first real dirty diaper! What a champ!
The rest of the day was free. Libby took a short afternoon nap and really started opening up afterward. She started playing with her toys some and kept trying to get into a standing position. She giggled and smiled and babbled. It was a lot of fun.
We ordered pizza from Danny's Bagels and I felt like I was back home - it really tasted great.
It hit us today that we'll be in China for another 12 days! We are ready to bring Libby home now. So pray that we find ways to enjoy China over the next 12 days and pray that time will fly until we can bring our babies home.
What matters today is that in China's eyes, Libby now belongs to us - FOREVER! This is Libby's official adoption day! HOORAY!!!!
We love you all!
